RockStar2k and Refuge / MCA Records give away “Rock Record Deal” this Summer!
New York, NY – RockStar2k, an Artist Development company / consultant, has teamed up with Refuge / MCA Records to give away a full-blown record deal this summer! Guitar Center (where applicable) is the retail partner.
Beginning in May, participating radio stations will hold local contests, searching for the best-unsigned band in the listening area. At the end of June, local winners from each market will be featured on RockStar2k for the national tier of the contest. Radio stations will encourage local fans to vote via the stations’ web site. On August 6th two bands will be chosen by popular vote and three from the MCA A&R staff to advance to the final showcase in New York City. This event will take place August 25th.
RockStar2k’s affiliate partners include StarPolish (www.StarPolish.com), a company dedicated to educating and empowering emerging musicians. StarPolish will be available to consult with participating artists during the “Record Deal” contest, this summer. Also, HyperCD Technology (Broadbridge Media), a CD technology that utilizes the Internet, providing the user (no matter what connection speed) with DVD quality video.
Aspiring musicians and unsigned talent will come to www.RockStar2k.com to submit music for evaluation. The company is staffed with industry professionals who have over twenty-years of experience in the business. Selected artists will participate in industry showcases and will be featured on CD compilations for A&R and industry executives. RockStar2k will act a consultant to the “Featured Artists” and will work on their behalf to secure a record deal. RockStar2k’s “Celebrity Spotlight” will continually catch up with breaking bands, producers, managers and executives.
Tony Couch, of RockStar2k commented by saying, “We’re very enthusiastic about our new venture and are committed to finding successful bands that you’ll actually hear on the radio. There are so many ‘Web sites’ out there claiming to help artists, and they may. RockStar2k is a company, and will perhaps perform at a different level. We want to reach the serious recording musician. This is what we do, all day, every day.” He added, “We’re especially excited to find a band, through the Label Deal Contest with Refuge/MCA.”
RockStar2k’s parent company is McGathy Promotions (www.McGathypromotions.com) is responsible for finding Creed and 3 Doors Down. Based in New York City, the company works closely with U.S. Rock and Modern Rock radio stations, promoting music to them on behalf of major record labels.
